About Us

Torfoot Farm Australia is named for its rocky outcrops and hills.  Tor means Rocky Cragg. We are sitting on and at the foot of beautiful granite outcrops. Our little farm has been a lifelong dream.  We seek to develop this beautiful piece of Southern Queensland into a self-sustaining and regenerative farm that we can share with others.

We are Ian and Kym Wilson. Thank you for wanting to learn more about who we are and what we do. We have both worked within the Emergency Services field for a large part of our working lives and purchased our little piece of paradise in 2015. Having lived in Canberra, Brisbane, and many other places both in Australia and Overseas, we understand what it is to truly belong somewhere. We honour those who have come before us and develop for those who will come after.

2022 Update: We are going all in. Ditching the offsite jobs and focussing on the farm is the goal but we need your help. Join us on Patreon to follow the journey from behind the scenes. https://www.patreon.com/torfootfarm

Ethics

Earth Care

We Love our little piece of paradise and want to see it return from the unsustainable practices of corporate farming to the full abundance of nature. Under our nurturing stewardship, the land we call Torfoot Farm is becoming renewed with the help of permaculture and restorative agriculture principles. Our aim is to not only leave it better than we found it but bring it back into natural balance.

People Care

Caring for and protecting people has been a strong theme for both of us in our professional and private lives. Bringing this ethic into our farming business means we consider not only people but also the animals in our care. It means that we honour those animals who stay with us, those who pass through, and the impact that we as people have on them. We care for our community and the wider community of homosapiens by being active members of society and speaking up for what is right and good rather than seeking to be profit-driven.

Stewardship

This means we care for what we have and what is provided for us while only taking what is truly needed and ensuring their is surplus available for others and the ecosystem we share. We seek to share abundance with nature and with those around us. Giving back to the community where we live whenever possible shows our gratitude for what is provided to us.
